Registrations & Bike Racking

Ready to Race! Registration opens for all participants to sign off their name and pick up their race packs below.

Where: Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club, Bay Street, off Main Beach, Byron Bay

Registration Only: Friday, 12th May 5:00pm-7:00pm 

Registration and Transition Bike Racking: Saturday, 13th May 8:00am-11:00am

Please note, if you register on Friday night, you will need to still rack your bike in Transition before 11:00am Saturday.

The swim leg is an ocean swim, following the shallow shoreline and set just outside the surf zone. The Byron Surf Life Saving Club do a wonderful job lining the course and providing water safety.  Little Rippers help with drone surveillance from the air.

In the event of poor weather conditions inhibiting competitors from completing the swim, we will conduct a beach sprint in place of the swim.


The bike leg is an out and back course from the Main Beach Transition Area to Lennox Head on the Byron Bay/Lennox Head Coastal Road. 

Roads are CLOSED for all distances. 

  • Juniors, Big Kids and Tempta course stay within Byron Town
  • Sprint course (20km) is 2 laps heading towards Suffolk Park
  • Olympic course (40km) is 2 laps out on the Coastal Road, past Suffolk Park to Lennox Head and back. 




The run leg is a scenic course along the foreshore, which loops from the Surf Life Saving Club out and back. Aid Stations and supporters line the course to cheer you on your final journey to the finish line. 


Kids Triathlon

Byron Coastal Real Estate Kids Triathlon caters for children as young as 6. The course allows children to participate in a safe environment and enjoy their achievements with all receiving:

- FREE participation medal, and

- FREE sausage sizzle. For those teenagers 13 years and older that are ready to tackle the bigger distances, they are able to enter the Tempta Division. 





Schools Challenge

The Byron Bay Triathlon School Challenge is on again... who will be the fittest school this year?

This is a competition for schools in the local area, but it's not about who wins the race, but how many from your school you can get to compete!* All schools in the Northern Rivers are welcome to enter so talk to your classmates and see if your school can win the title of the "Fittest School" (just enter your school's name when you register). You will receive 1 point for just participating and if you get your teachers in too they get triple rewards. 

1 Entry in Kids Triathlon = 1 School Point

1 Entry in Adult Triathlon (Teachers and support staff) = 3 School Points

Maximum distances are listed below:

12 yrs – 300m/10km/2km

13 yrs – 400m/15km/4km

14 yrs – 750m/20km/5km

15 yrs – 1.5km/40km/10km
